Additional Information: Baloo is such a smart, inquisitive, playful and happy boy who wants nothing more than to be loved by you! He’s a super cuddle-buddy, and when he went to daycare his report card said that he napped and cuddled with the daycare employees. Not only does Baloo love people, but he loves other dogs as well. He loves his daily playtime with a neighbor dog, a pitt/hound mix, as long as no toys are involved.

Baloo does adorable things like chase light spots, bound around happily with a tennis ball, and "guard" his showering humans by standing between the outer and inner shower curtains.

Baloo is also very trainable and eager to learn. The fact that he’s deaf does not hold him back! One of the best parts of Baloo is how bright he is, and how focused he is when his humans sign to him. He can follow a sequence of signs--ie, "you're going to go on a walk then get a toy"-- and respond accordingly. He currently knows “sit,” “stay,” “stop,” “lie down,” “paw,” “walk,” “toy,” “crate,” “eat,” “play,” “come here,” and “touch.” To say the least, he’s one smart fella! Baloo is a mellow, loving companion who LOVES learning, exploring, sleeping and snuggling. Baloo is a truly amazing dog! Apply today to meet him!

If you are interested in meeting a dog, we require an adoption application. Visit http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt.html to apply. If a dog has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon.

If a dog has "NEEDS FOSTER" listed, they are still available for adoption. Information about our current dogs in need of fosters can be found here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/current-dogs-in-need-of-a-foster.html and the application to foster is here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster.html.

City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).

Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet.
Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained.
Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.

We do our best to disclose all health records and known health conditions to adopters. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations and health tests, but does not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR & CK.  City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.

We also update our
Facebook page
daily with new dogs.
